Stay ahead of dehydration during hot weather

Heat increases fluid needs and can make dehydration develop faster, especially during physical work or illness.

Drink regularly during hot weather and physical activity, and pay attention to thirst, urine output and how you feel. Extra care is important for children, older adults and people who are unwell.

Severe weakness, confusion, fainting, inability to keep fluids down or signs of heat illness require urgent medical assessment.

Some heart or kidney conditions require fluid limits, so follow individual clinical advice if that applies to you.
