Move more during the week — every bit counts
Walking, cycling, dancing, household activity and planned exercise can all contribute to better health.
Regular physical activity supports heart, brain and metabolic health. For many adults, a useful target is at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity across the week, plus muscle-strengthening activity when appropriate.
Make it realistic
- Start with short walks and build gradually.
- Break up long periods of sitting.
- Choose activities you can repeat consistently.
If exercise causes chest pain, severe breathlessness, fainting or other concerning symptoms, stop and seek medical assessment.
